Shows to Watch During Spooky Season

I love watching TV and I love spooky season so for this

article I am combining the two and bringing you a list of

shows I think are perfect to watch this October! I have

featured shows from three of the top streaming

sites, Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, so hopefully there are

shows on here that everyone can watch. Enjoy!

.

.

.

American Horror Story

You cannot have a horror tv show list without mentioning

the king of them all, American Horror Story. This

series ventures where no series dares to go and is

definitely not for those who are easily scared or

have a weak stomach. Each season is a different

storyline so you don’t have to watch the seasons in

order to understand what is happening and with

10 seasons that might just be a good thing. In my

personal opinion the best seasons are Murder House and Asylum.

Evil (Season 2 on Hulu)

I will admit there were moments in the show that made

me go “really?” (mainly when it came to the demons), but

even with those moments this show was very entertaining

and it was easy for me to watch episode after episode.

Oh the cliffhanger at the end of season 1?! So good!

.

Supernatural

This is one of my all time favorite shows. It probably

won’t give you any nightmares (although I will say that

my brother used to not want to watch the earlier seasons

at night…don’t tell him I told you that. lol), but it will definitely

hold your attention and I guarantee there will be some

laughs. Still not sure? Take a look at the 4 main characters

of the show, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Alexander

Calvert, and my man Jensen Ackles and I guarantee you

will be sprinting to watch this show as soon as possible. *swoon*

.

The Haunting at Bly Manor

I was skeptical that I would like this show since it came

from the same producers as The Haunting of Hill

House (which I wasn’t all that impressed with). However, after

the first episode I was hooked and I sat and binged

it like no one’s business. (This show is more of a love story

than a ghost story, but still has some spooky aspects so I included it.)

.

You

I believe in love at first sight” because that is exactly what

happened with this TV show. From the first few minutes

of episode one I was hooked and I haven’t looked back

since…well….maybe just to make sure Joe isn’t behind

me. Lol I really really want to read the book this series is

based on (even though I have heard some very mixed

reviews about it) and I cannot WAIT until season 3 is out.

.

Midnight Mass

I’m not going to sugarcoat it….this show is weird. Very

Stephen King-esque, but for the life of me I couldn’t stop

watching. I had to find out what was going to happen next

even though the whole time I was thinking “this is weird, this is weird.” lol

.

Stranger Things

What would a spooky season TV list be without Stranger

Things? Incomplete that’s what! Lol This show blew

up, but after watching it myself it comes as no surprise.

It’s not predictable and has a LOT of great suspense. I will

say that I am not super obsessed with this show as

many others are, but I am ready for season 4. #bringbackhopper

.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I started watching this show because I thought it was

going to act like a remake of the show Sabrina the

Teenage Witch that I watched while I was a kid.

In a way it was, but definitely nothing like I was expecting.

Sabrina still had her two aunts that she lived with and her

black cat Salem and was in fact a young witch in high

school, but that is about where the similarities end and

this show goes on to take a much darker turn. It is

creepy, entertaining, and at times it will make you want

to sit and say some prayers while watching.

.

Two Sentence Horror Stories

I had no idea what to expect from this show, but I was

definitely left pleasantly surprised. The episodes of this

show are super short and each one follows its own storyline

so you don’t have to watch them in order. (It kind of gives me Black Mirror vibes.)

They might not all be scary, but they are definitely creepy.

.

Goosebumps

I used to read the Goosebumbs books allll the stinking

time growing up. In fact, anytime we were in the car or didn’t

have a lot going on mom would have me sit and read aloud to

her and my brother. Good creepy stories for all ages.

.

.

.

Fear the Walking Dead

If you are a fan of The Walking Dead then this is a

show for you. It doesn’t feature any of the same characters

from that show, but it does have very very similar vibes in

the slow manner the show progresses through its storyline, but

the action scenes and drama make up for it in my opinion.

.

Castle Rock

This show is based on various Stephen King works so you

can bet that it is a little on the weird side. However, once

you accept that this show is actually pretty dang good.

It has a nice air of mystery and some good thrilling aspects

although I do have to admit there were some times

throughout it I was very confused so be sure to pay

close attention when you watch it!

.

Teen Wolf

MTV might not play much music anymore, but a lot

of their TV shows, such as this one, are just fantastic.

I love this show and have from the first moment. What can

I say…I’m a sucker for a good teen drama! Lol It’s

entertaining, has a lot of great twists to keep you guessing, and

I might even go as far to say that it is better than other

comparable teen dramas like The Vampire Diaries. Trust

me, watch this show. You won’t regret it.

.

Ghost Adventures

Say what you want about Zak Bagans and his crew, but

I have always found their show Ghost Adventures

to be super entertaining. The over the top dramatizations

and reactions give the show a small bit of comedic

relief (probably unintentional, but just my thoughts lol) while

still showcasing some scary haunted locations.

.

Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural

I watched Buzzfeed Unsolved paranormal on Youtube

and fell in love with Shane and Ryan. They are so

extremely entertaining to watch and absolutely hilarious.

I love how you have both sides of the believer spectrum

with Ryan being a huge believer in all things paranormal

and Shane a huge skeptic. Watching Ryan’s face as Shane

calls out to the ghosts and demons asking them to do their

worst has me roaring with laughter. Very happy to see that

you can now watch them on Hulu as well. Proud of my boys!

.

Scream Queens

Ridiculous? Oh insanely, but I also found it to be extremely entertaining.

.

Light As a Feather

This is a recent find for me, but it definitely has me in its clutches. I

never played light as a feather, stiff as a board before, but you

can guarantee that I won’t be playing it now! Definitely some

weird aspects about the show involving one of the main

characters, but this is a fantastic teen drama.

.

.

Honestly disappointed by the lack of spooky season shows.

.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I am going to be honest with y’all…I have never seen

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. However, I feel like I have as

much as I have heard others talk about this show so that

is why I put it on the list. It is an iconic and well known show

and I am definitely going to be watching it this spooky season.

.

Ghost Hunters

This was the first ghost hunting show I ever watched

and to this day it remains my absolute favorite. I love

Jason and Grant and think they are very genuine, down

to earth guys that you could just sit and chill with.

.

Grimm

This show is like CSI meets Once Upon a Time. A crime

drama meets fantasy. This show is very entertaining with

not much repetitiveness and it reminds me a little of

Supernatural (which as I mentioned before is one of my all time

favorite shows). I think the Brothers Grimm would be happy with how this show.

What are some of your TV recommendations for spooky season?

  1. This is a phenomenal, comprehensive list – bravo! My wife and I watch “Midnight Mass” and agree – but after a slow burn in the beginning, it really headed completely over-the-top in a weirdly satisfying way!

      1. Same! I almost stopped watching after the first episode tbh, but there was something telling me I needed to keep going and I am so glad I did! Not what I was expecting at all, but in a good way for sure.
